My main social outlet is dance. Right now I'm in the most dance-intensive period of my life - I'm dancing on average 4 nights a week, and loving it. I do Irish ceili, which is really, really challenging and I sometimes have to drag myself to, but slowly becoming more and more enjoyable. I've been contradancing for four years. Fridays/Saturdays are given alternately to Friday Night Waltz (mostly vintage ballroom, both a challenge and a pleasure) and then on the odd Saturday night I go to PEERS and Gaskells.
My professional aspirations lie in the field of education. I graduated from Berkeley with a degree in linguistics and an education minor, and did fieldwork in an Oakland middle school. In the future, I'd like to spend a couple of years as a teacher in the inner city, then return to school for a masters and possibly doctorate. Eventually, I would love to work in policymaking and/or administration.
I also love food. I love thinking about, reading about, creating, and eating food. Aside from dance, food is my main creative outlet. I've done everything from fancy bridal showers to wedding cakes (Yes, wedding cakes). For 3+ years I cooked dinner for 40 people once a week. I like playing with flavors, textures, and scents to find new, interesting combinations. I'm about 25% local and 75% organic right now, and working on becoming more so.
